About

Cognitive and neurological conditions can have a big impact on the experience people have online. It's important to focus on making websites easy to use for everyone.

This is an ongoing project to showcase web accessibility in an interactive way.

Readability

There are many things that affect readability and these things affect it and there are some things you can do hierarchy, font, font size, the spacing. Reading and somewhat colour and contrast if you could pick a colour and choose everything words.

Hierarchy

Hierarchy in web design is how text is organised based on importance. It helps with readability and to understand the content better. It makes it easier to identify important information and navigate the content more efficiently.

Line Length

The line length in text can affect how easy it is to read. It's important to find the right balance in line length to make reading comfortable and enjoyable. Studies say a line length between 40-80 characters is optimal.

This sentence has a total of 43 characters.

Whereas this sentence is longer and the line length is a total of 80 characters.

Have a go at changing the line length of the paragraph below.

The width of a paragraph is important for readability. If it's too wide, you might accidentally read the same line twice because your eyes lose their place between lines. So, it's better to avoid overly wide paragraphs. On the other hand, if a paragraph is too short, it disrupts the reading flow as your eyes constantly have to jump to the next line. Therefore, finding the right balance in paragraph length is key for a better reading experience.

Decision Fatigue

Decision fatigue can happen when there are too many choices or the process to make the decision is too complex. This can make users feel mentally tired and frustrated. When possible, the decision making process should be simple and easy to understand.

You can pick the colour, button style and size.

Simple

Welcome to the simple button design process.

You can choose the colour and style for your button.

Intuitive

Intuitive web design is important as the focus is on experience of the people using it, making it easy to understand, navigate and interact with. Maintaining consistent layouts is one thing that can help users engage with the content without the need for extensive guidance or instructions.

Project

This project is a work in progress. As someone with ADHD who has an interest in art, design, and programming, I enjoy creating websites that are accessible and follow good design principles. I am always learning and doing my best to stay updated with new information in these areas. I look forward to updating this website along the way.

Distractions

Websites that have a lot of pop ups, whether it be for cookies or to sign up. Autoplay videos or audio when the page loads. Carousels that move automatically with no option to pause. Flashing colours or text on the page.

Time Constraints

Forms or processes with a time limit that do not give the option to pause or extend the time.

Colours

Different ways people interpret colours. Using patterns in combination with colours to represent actions. How important the contrast in colours is for reading and actions on a page.

Hi there! I enjoyed making a start to this project and I look forward to adding more to it. Here is a link to my Github.
